About this ride
Celebrate Earth Day with the Protectors of the Salt River! ππ²
Join us on Saturday, April 25th at 8:00 AM for a special Earth Day edition of Ride the Rio. This month, our community stewardship cruise will serve as the official kickoff to the AZ(LAND) Tierra Madre Earth Day Celebration!
The Route: We will meet at the Tempe Center for the Arts pedestrian bridge at 8:00 AM and enjoy a relaxed, scenic group ride down to the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area (Central Ave). It is about a 1-hour ride each way, arriving just in time for the festival gates to open at 9:00 AM.
The Destination: The ride ends right at the Tierra Madre Earth Day celebration! After we ride, stick around to enjoy:
π Complimentary food and refreshments
ποΈ Mercado Tonalli (local vendors, artists, and handcrafted goods)
π Teatrico AZ(LAND) live performances and workshops
πΏ The City Nature Challenge
The Return Ride: We will hang out, eat, and enjoy the festival together for a few hours. For those who want to ride back as a group, we will do a casual, mass-exodus ride back to Tempe Town Lake at 11:30 AM (about a 1-hour ride). However, you are completely free to stay at the festival as long as you'd like and head back on your own schedule!
This is not a raceβit's a joyful, intergenerational cruise to reconnect with Onk Akimel (the Salt River) and our community. Bring your bike, some water, a friend, and a backpack if you plan to shop the local vendor market!
Letβs ride together and celebrate our shared home. Learn more about our ongoing mission at protectorsofthesaltriver.com
